Govt evolving strategy to deal with naxalites: Manmohan

Hannover, Apr 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the government was evolving a two-fold strategy to effectively tackle the menace of Naxalites.

''We have to strengthen policing, security measures and border intelligence and at the same time address the root cause of the discontent and alienation'', Dr Singh told reporters on board the aircraft enroute to Germany.

He said the government is worried about spread of naxalism. The Centre is in touch with each state that is affected by it.

Asked whether Naxalism can be termed as terrorism, he said that ''whatever you declare it, I think it is a serious security threat.

There is no doubt about this''.
