Governor, political leaders 'shocked' over attack on Mahajan

Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna has expressed shock over the attack on senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan here this morning.

In a statement Mr Krishna said, ''I was deeply shocked to know about the life-threatening assault on Mr Pramod Mahajan...I am confident that he will bounce back to normal life at the ealiest.

I wish him a speedy recovery.'' State BJP leaders also expressed their shock over the incident.

A number of political leaders, including Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi, State PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and former Union Minister Ram Naik visited the Hinduja hospital, where Mr Mahajan has been operated upon.

Mr Bhujbal, while coming out of the hospital, told reporters that Mr Mahajan was ''out of danger'' and a team of 4-5 doctors was treating him. He said he was hoping for a speedy recovery of the BJP leader.

Besides, Shiv Sena MP Subhash Desai, State Energy Minister Dilip Walse Patil and film actor and social activist Shabana Azmi also visited the hospital.

BJP sources said party president Rajnath Singh, senior leader and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and BJP leaders Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitely are slated to arrive here later today.
