DUJ observes protest day, calls for risk insurance for journalists

New Delhi, Apr 22 (UNI) Expressing concern at the "growing climate of intolerance against the media", the Delhi Union of Journalists observed a Black Day today and called for a risk insurance cover for journalists.

In a meeting here, attended by several journalists and press workers, the DUJ called for an end to increasing assaults and curbs on the press in the country.

A resolution passed at the meeting called for an end to press bashing and demanded an insurance cover for journalists.

Noting that since globalisation, freedom of the press and freedom of association has come under grave peril, the DUJ called for a continuous monitoring of mounting press bashing in South Asia.
