Dr Ambedkar's close aide in hospital; reported stable

Nagpur, Apr 22 (UNI) A close aide of DrBabasaheb Ambedkar Mr Wamenrao Godbole, who was admitted to a private nursing home here following severe arthritis and amnesia, is reported to be stable.

Godbole (84), who was admitted to Swastik critical care hospital on April 18, was unconscious till yesterday, but since last night he gained some consciousness and has been responding to treatment, Dr Anand Dongre added.

His condition is stable but not out of danger, the doctor said.

The octogenarian was reportedly the man behind getting Dr Babasaheb to embrace Buddhism at a function at Deeksha Bhoomi on October 14, 1956.
