Compensation to Meerut fire victims
Lucknow, Apr 22 (UNI) On the directives of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, the state government would provide compensation for expenditure on medicines and treatment of all the victims of the Meerut fire tragedy.
Besides, the government also took the decision for separate budgetary allocation of Rs 10 crore for providing relief to victims of terrorist attacks, fire accidents and other such mishaps.
Principal secretary (Home) S K Agarwal said in the context of CM's announcement, an amount of Rs 2.18 crore had been distributed among the fire victims.
He said Rs 15 lakh had been given for providing treatment to those injured people in the accident.
An amount of Rs 2.7 crore had been given to the Meerut District Magistrate for the treatment of the injured, who are getting medical aid in Meerut or in private hospitals outside the city.
A total of Rs 4.40 crore had been released by UP government for providing relief to the Meerut fire victims.
Mr Agarwal said the Meerut DM had also been directed to seek more financial aid, if needed.
