BJP complains to EC against FB candidate in Jagaddal

Kolkata, Apr 22 (UNI) BJP candidate in Jagaddal assembly constituency Rahul Sinha today lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission against the Forward Bloc nominee charging him with violating the election code of conduct.

In a fax message to Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon,Mr Sinha, also the party general secretary in the state,alleged that Haripada Biswas, while participating in an election debate in an electronic channel last night, had "threatened voters in his constituency with provocative statements thereby grossly violating the election code of conduct as well the election laws".

Demanding immediate action against Biswas, Mr Sinha also urged the EC to take cognisance of the matter and prevent recurrence of such incident.

He also demanded banning of telecast of such programmes in the electronic media.

The Jagaddal constituency in North 24 Parganas is witnessing a three-cornered contest with Mr Sunil Seal being the third contestant. The poll is scheduled in the third phase on April 27.
