Bihar State Women Commission issues summon to Udit Narain
Patna, Apr 22 (UNI) Bihar State Women's Commission has issued summons to noted playback singer Udit Narain to appear before it within 15 days to explain his position following complaints lodged by his estranged wife Ranjana today.
President of the state women's commission Manju Prakash said Ms Ranjana complained that Udit had refused to accept her as his wife although she was married to the singer in 1984.
Ms Prakash said Ranjana submitted photographs of her marriage and other relevent documents which proved that she was his lawful wife.
'' The women's commission is solidly behind Ms Ranjana and it would leave no stone unturned to provide justice to the victim'', she added.
Earlier, a formal complaint was registered with the commission on the basis of the statement given by Ms Ranjana and documentary evidence submitted by her.
Meanwhile, Ranjana called on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and urged him to intervene into the matter to provide justice to her.
Mr Kumar refused to intervene saying it was a family affair and the state government had no role to play. He suggested her to seek justice in the court adding the government would act if the court issued any directive in this regard.
Earlier Ms Ranjana had staged dharna before the room of the hotel in Patna where Udit was staying with his present wife. Later, he was escorted to the Patna airport under heavy security cover. It was also reported that mediapersons were also manhandled by the relatives of Udit.
Udit had allegedly married Deepa without formal divorce with his first wife Ranjana.
