AP BJP calls for debate on Telangana

Visakhapatnam, Apr 22: BJP Andhra Pradesh President N Indrasena Reddy today called for a public debate on separate Telangana to determine the party which was more politically opportunistic in using issue in meeting its own ends.

Calling to a debate Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu who alleged the BJP was being opportunistic in using the issue to gain political mileage, he said the party had been clear in its policy on formation of smaller states.

The BJP had clearly stated this in its Kakinada resolution also.It was the TDP which followed poltical opportunism and kept changing its stand on the issue.

He accused both Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the Congress of being apathetic to Telangana people's welfare.

Both charged the TRS and the Congress with being responsible for the delay in tabling the Telangana bill.

Regretting the sorry state of fishermen of Gangavaram Village who lost their livelihood due to construction of private port, he said both the TDP, which signed the MoU with the private promoters and the Congress, which whole-heartedly supported the project by 'suppressing the aggrieved fisherfolk,' should explain their intentions to the people.

The Gangavaram issue would snowball on the Congress resulting in its humiliating defeat in the Visakha-I Assembly repolls to be held on April 24, he claimed.

He also assailed the Left which claimed to be the champions for the cause of Gangavaram fishermen, for continuing to support the Congress.
