Anand Sharma hopes for end to Nepal crisis
New Delhi, Apr 22: Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today hoped that Nepal King Gyanendra's decision to hand over executive powers to the seven-party alliance would end political crisis in the Himalayan kingdom.
''We hope that this (King's offer) will begin a process of healing wounds and bring about reconciliation. We hope it will bring about normalcy in Nepal,'' he said.
Describing the King's decision as a positive move towards reinstating democracy, the Minister said India had always supported Nepal's progress and development.
The External Affairs Ministry had in a a statement last night welcomed the King's announcement and hoped that the political and economic crisis in Nepal would now come to an end.
