All parties conniving to defeat SP in Rae Bareli bypoll:Mulayam
Kanpur, Apr 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today alleged that BJP, BSP and Congress were unitedly contesting the Rae Bareli bypoll to help Sonia Gandhi retain the parliamentary seat.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Yadav claimed all the parties had joined hands to defeat the SP candidate, but the result of the bypoll ''would surprise everyone.'' To a poser, he claimed the recent Aligarh incident was result of a ''misunderstanding between police and a section of people,'' but it was being raked by a political party to fan communal sentiments.
The CM also criticised the media for giving unwanted publicity to the incident, which increased the tension in Aligarh town. ''The situation is now under control.'' On power crisis, he claimed the problem was not exclusive of UP, but the entire north India. ''UP will become power-surplus in two years on the completion of Dadri project in Ghaziabad.'' Further, the CM maintained the assembly and Nagar Nigam polls would be held as per schedule. ''The ground work is in progress and party workers have been asked to gear up for elections,'' he added.
