AIADMK expels Legislator for indisicipline

Chennai, Apr 22 (UNI) The ruling AIADMK today expelled its Nagercoil Legislator Austin from the primary membership of the party for having indulged in activities in ''contravention of party principles and discipline.'' AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa said in a statement that he had been removed from all party responsibilites for having brought disrepute to the party and urged partymen not to have any links with him.

Mr Austin, who was elected from Nagercoil in 2001 election as a candidate of erstwhile MGR ADMK founded by former Union Minister S Thirunavukkarasar, later switched over to the AIADMK.

Though he had sought party ticket to contest the seat again, the seat was allocated to the MDMK, which is facing the election in alliance with the AIADMK.

However, Mr Austin filed his nomination as an Independent, attracting disciplinary action from the party leadership.
