Next 72 hours critical, serious injury to liver

Mumbai, Apr 22: General Secretory Pramod Mahajan has undergone a surgery at Hinduja hospital this morning. Doctors say that his liver has sustained severe injuries.

However, next 72 hours are said to be critical for his well being. Doctors who conducted the surgery said that he was given 25 bottles of blood and more surgeries might be required. He was treated for injuries sustained in intestines and pancreas.

Mr Mahajan, who sustained three bullet shots - on his right hand, abdomen and stomach - after his brother fired four rounds at him with a pistol.

However, brother Prakash Mahajan denies any property dispute. Pravin has been arrested and booked under section 307 of the IPC (attempt to murder), police said and added that he would be produced before court later today.

A seriously injured Mahajan was rushed to the Hinduja hospital by his brother-in-law and BJP Legislative Party leader Gopinath Munde. Mr Munde is married to Mahajan's younger sister.
