Woman dies in mishap
Chennai, Apr 21 (UNI) A 35-year-old woman was killed in a fire mishap at a chemical godown at suburban West Tambaram today.
Police here said the mishap took place when the victim, Ms Fathima, an employee at the godown attempted to light the camphor with a matchbox for peforming the weekly pooja.
A spark from the match stick thrown on the floor fell on the acid parcels which exploded with a huge noise.
Fathima choked to death in the heavy smoke. However, two of her colleagues managed to escape, they added.
On information, fire services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the flames under control after one hour.
Fathima's body was removed to the Government Hospital, Chrompet, for post-mortem, they added.
