Rymy Gurung wins individual kyaking event

Rishikesh, Apr 21 (UNI) Rumy Gurung triumphed the individual kayaking event, while UP colts emerged champions in the junior rafting event on the second day of the three-day All India Open White Water Kayaking and Rafting Championship 2006 here today.

Rumy won the championship by covering the distance of 22 km -- from Marine Drive to NIM beach in an hour and 25.56 minutes, while Dhan Bahadur Gurung (1:26.20) was the runner up in the event.

In the junior wing rafting championship, the team of UP bagged the championship, covering the five km distance from Brahmpuri to NIM beach in 23 minutes and 32 seconds while hosts Uttaranchal came second, covering the distance in 24 minutes and nine seconds.
