Rubber export touches 70,000 tonnes
Kottayam, Apr 21 (UNI) India exported about 70,000 tonnes of natural rubber during 2005-06, Rubber Board Chairman Sajen Peter said today.
In a press release here, he said without any special assistance, the quantity of natural rubber exported during 2005-06 was 69,446 tonnes against the anticipated 55,000 tonnes.
The import was less than 45,000 tonnes during the period.
Foreign exchange revenue from the export was estimated at Rs 430 crore.
Production of natural rubber during the period was 8,03,230 tonnes and consumption 8,01,385 tonnes. The consumption would surpass production with an estimated growth of five per cent during 2006-07, he said.
