PMK will not seek share in power: Ramadoss reiterates

Chennai, Apr 21 (UNI) PMK founder-leader Dr S Ramadoss today said his party would not seek a share in power in the event of formation of a coalition government in Tamil Nadu after the May eight Assembly polls.

Talking to reporters here, he said there was no change in the party's stand in this regard.

He was responding to a query on DMK Chief M Karunanidhi's remarks that his party was not averse to forming a coalition government in the event of a hung assembly.

Asserting that the DPA would win all the 234 assembly seats and there was no question of a coalition government, Dr Ramadoss read out a paragraph from his party's manifesto and said his party would not participate in the government to be formed by the DMK after the elections.

''We have already decided not to participate in the Government.

There is no change in it'', he added.

He said there was a wave against AIADMK Supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and the DMK-led DPA would sweep the polls.

Criticising Ms Jayalalithaa's offer of ten kg free rice to the ration card holders, he said if she had fulfilled her 2001 poll promise, the issue would not have come up now.

In her 2001 manifesto the AIADMK had promised that by April this year, there will not be any person below the povery line in the State. If she had fulfilled the promise, the free rice issue would not have come up now,'' he added.

About the slew of promises made by Ms Jayalalithaa, including providing jobs to 25 lakh youth schools in all villages and one teacher per class, Dr Ramadoss said it was easy to make promises.

''People have to see the background of a person, who is making it, and think whether they have any value to it'', he said and alleged that the AIADMK had not fulfilled even a single promise made in its 2001 poll manifesto.
