Patel welcomes HC's decision on airports

New Delhi, Apr 21 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel today said the Delhi High Court's decision defending the government action on modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports is welcome and will be adhered to.

''We welcome and respect the high court's decision. The verdict will be abided by us,'' he said while reacting to the court's decision rejecting a petition by Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Airport Developers Limited and upholding the government's decision to allot Delhi and Mumbai airports' modernisation work to rival bidders -- GMR and GVK led consortia.

The court, however, ordered that the two consortia will not claim any equity or implement the contract during the next two weeks so as to enable the petitioner file an appeal in the Supreme Court.

Earlier in the day, Mr Patel had said that there will be no obstacles in the way of modernising and restructuring the two major metro airports.
