KCP must not hamper freeedom of press: PREPAK
Imphal, Apr 21 (UNI) The People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has asked the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) to stop hampering freedom of press in the state.
The PREPAK said the media should be allowed to function freely and the detention of six editors by the KCP was 'unfortunate'.
In a meeting here yesterday a joint statement was issued by media and civil organisations, who condemned the militant activities.
They said the KCP would be considered 'anti-people' if it continues to resort to such activities.
Over a dozen civil organisations took part in the meeting.
Various organisations, in the last few days, had condemned the detention of the editors by the KCP in Meitei to force publication of their press statements.
