Indian Institute of Production Engineers to start PG course
Bangalore, Apr 21 (UNI) The Indian Institution of Production Engineers (IIPE) was in dialogue with various universities and industry heads to start a two-year post graduate course on production engineering.
With an initial intake of around 50, the course would have an in-built curricula, under which students would be attached to an industry for 40 per cent of the course period. The course would commence shortly, Institute Chairman M S Zahed told newspersons here today.
Admitting that there was shortage of qualified production engineers in the country, he said there would be a huge demand for them in the near future in view of the increased acceptance of India by global players as a manufacturing base.
IIPE would be taking a 15-member delegation to the Hannover Messe on technology, beginning April 24. This would be the first time that the Institute was leading a delegation to an international fair, Mr Zahed said, adding that the aim was to enable the Indian industry to have knowledge about the evolving manufacturing processes elsewhere in the world and adapt them in India so that the country could fast emerge as a global manufacturing hub.
The Institute would also tie up with similar bodies in Europe and other regions for exchange and updation of technology, he added.
