Bangalore, Apr 21: At least 15 Indian doctors, working at the B P Koirala Institute of Health Science at Dharan in Nepal, are stranded following the latest uprising in the land-locked nation.
Dr B L Jayaram, President of the B J Linge Gowda Academy for the Blind and Disabled Trust, told UNI here today that his son, Dr J Manju, was one of the doctors unable to come out of the hospital, set up jointly by the Indian and Nepalese Governments.
He said his son, who spoke to him over telephone a couple of days ago, had said the doctors were prevented from moving out of the hospital and one of them who tried to sneak out using an ambulance was stopped halfway and sent back by protestors, with the vehicle damaged heavily. The doctors were undergoing a severe ordeal and even food was a problem, he added.
Dr Jayaram had sought the Union Government's intervention through a leter to Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajasekharan, who had assured to take up the issue with the External Affairs Ministry.
