Haryana, Kyrgyzstan can cooperate in power sector
Chandigarh, Apr 21 (UNI) Haryana and Kyrgyzstan can have mutual cooperation in the field of electric energy, agricultural products and combating terrorism as well as knowledge transfer, Haryana Finance Minister Birender Singh said today.
The Minister stated this during a high level meeting with the delegation of Talas Region of Kyrgyz Republic led by its Governor Djeenbekov here on the conclusion of their tour of Haryana.
The Kyrgyz delegation was in Haryana to study the progress made by the state in the field of agriculture and industrial sector.
Mr Birender Singh said Haryana, which had been primarily an agricultural state, was presently throbbing with industrial activity due to announcement of the new industrial policy by the present government.
He said Haryana had become much sought after destination for the foreign and national investors due to the world class facilities available here.
At present about 50 per cent of the passenger cars and motor cycles and 25 per cent of the tractors produced in the country were manufactured in Haryana.
The Minister said Haryana was one of the states which witnessed the ushering of the green revolution. ''As Kyrgyz Republic is also an agrarian state, so we can share our experiences and collaborate in this field.'' He said Haryana and Kyrgyz republic should identify specific areas of cooperation so as to boost the economy of both the states. ''As Kyrgyzstan has distinguished itself by adopting relatively liberal economic policies like India, so we can to share our vision.'' Speaking on the occasion, the Governor of Talas Region of Kyrgyz Republic said that he was very much impressed by the development made by Haryana in the field of agriculture and industry.
He remarked that after seeing the progress in the CCS Hisar Agricultural University, he intended to send students from Kyrgzstan to the university under exchange programme so that they could learn about the specialities in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry and also improve their English and other languages.
Mr Djeenbekov said there was great scope in strengthening ''our bilateral relations by sharing our experiences in the field of economy, culture and tourism.'' He sought the technical support and long time credit from India so as to develop its young democratic state. He said his country needed expertise in the field of animal husbandry and agriculture.
He also invited the Finance Minister to visit his country and hoped that such visits would help them in understanding each other's language and freeing them from the services of the interpreters.
