Funds to be released after polls: Minister
Visakhapatnam, Apr 21(UNI) The funds for development works which were frozen due to election code in view of the April 24 re-poll of Visakha-I Assembly constituency, will be released after the elections process was completed, Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Rangarao said today.
Speaking to reporters, he said the funds allotted to Visakhapatnam Corporation and municipalities by the state government remained unspent due to election code which had been in force for nearly last three months due to postponement and countermanding of elections. Several developmental works had been languishing.
However, special efforts had been made to release these funds.
After the elections, the government will accord more priority for the development of Greater Visakha and Greater Hyderabad city Corporations and allot funds for the developmental works accordingly.
He lambasted the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for creating hurdles in the developmental process saying it had no moral right to talk about Congress as state was ruined completely on all fronts during its nine-year regime.
The Opposition parties were trying to create obstacles for the various irrigation projects including Polavaram, Yellampally and others, but the Congress Government in the state was committed to their completion as promised.
The government had taken utmost care to provide relief and rehabilitation to the people who lost livelihood due to several projects, he claimed.
