Forty people drown in river Chitra in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Apr 21 (UNI) Forty people of a bridal party were feared drowned as a bus carrying them plunged into river Chitra in southwestern Narail district of Bangladesh today.

Police said the accident took place when the bus was getting into a ferry at about 5pm local time. Ten of the wedding guests, including the bridegroom and a woman, either swam ashore or were rescued by locals.

The bus is believed to have gone down 30 feet deep into water.

Navy divers from Khulna reached the spot to salvage the bus and rescue people.
