Ex UP skipper to play for Durham club in English county
Lucknow, Apr 21 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh Ranji skipper and ace all rounder Jyoti Yadav has been signed to play for a club of Durham county in the 2006 edition of English County Cricket starting tomorrow.
Jyoti, who sparkled in the just concluded Ranji Inter-State one-dayers, in which UP was the runners up, has been engaged by Evenhood Cricket club of Durham for the next five months.
This would be Jyoti's fifth stint in the English county cricket.
Earlier, he had played for a Yorkshire club.
Interestingly, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar is probably the only overseas player to have played for the main Yorkshire team, for which stalwarts like Geoff Boycott have played in the past.
Talking to UNI over phone from Durham, Jyoti said he was looking forward to the season.
In the Ranji one-dayer semi-finals against Baroda, Jyoti made an unbeaten 99 runs, which enabled UP to cruise in to the finals.
