Elaborate security for Advani in naxal-affected C'garh
Rajnandgaon (CG), Apr 21 (UNI) Amidst elaborate security arrangement in the naxalite-affected area, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani entered Chhattisgarh this evening as a part of his 'Bharat Suraksha Yatra'.
Chief Minister Raman Singh and his cabinet colleagues, state BJP President Shivpratap Singh and a large number of party workers welcomed Mr Advani at Bagh river bridge on the interstate border with Maharashtra.
Armed security personnel were deployed along the 60-km-long route to Rajnandgaon in view of the recent spurt in naxal activity in the region.
During his three-day stay in Chhattisgarh, the former deputy prime minister will cover 260 km within the state and will address public meetings at Rajnandgaon, Bhilai, Durg, Raipur, Simga and Bilaspur.
Mr Advani will leave for Kerala from Bilaspur for electioneering.
He will resume his yatra from Shahdol in MP.
