Death toll mounts to 64 in Asom accident

Guwahati, Apr 21 (UNI) The death toll of yesterday's bus accident rose upto 64 with the recovery of 11 more bodies from the muddy waters today.

Yesterday 53 bodies had been retrieved from muds of a road side pond where a bus carrying a marriage party plunged at Sarupeta in Barpeta district.

The bus, carrying about 100 people, fell into a ditch after slipping from a muddy village road.

The search operation, which resumed today recovered 11 more bodies including the priest of the marriage party.

The groom and his mother survived but four of his sisters and three brothers died in the accident. Another family has lost its 11 members in the mishap.
