Cong to move EC against Swamy, UP govt

Lucknow, Apr 21 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) today termed as ''baseless'' the allegations of Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy of being manhandled by Cong workers in Rae Bareli earlier in the day.

UPCC spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh said here that the allegations of Dr Swamy were baseless. He also slammed the veteran leader for his objectionable remarks against AICC president Sonia Gandhi and her son and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi.

Mr Singh also alleged that by according state guest status to Dr Swamy who was in Rae Bareli to file objections against Ms Gandhi's nominations -- the Mulayam Singh government in Uttar Pradesh had violated model code of conduct and subverted austerity.

A complaint will be made to the Election Commission in this regard.

Dr Swamy had alleged that he was manhandled by the Congress workers, while going to the Returning Officer and District Magistrate Office in Rae Bareli to file objections against the nomination of Sonia Gandhi for the May Eight next bypoll.
