Cong leaders bat for reservation in pvt sector
Bangalore, Apr 21: Two Congress leaders from Karnataka today strongly advocated implementation of reservation in the private sector for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the society.
Addressing a press conference here, KPCC General Secretary Prakash K Rathod and former city Mayor C Ramachandrappa said that in the post liberalisation and globalisation era, opportunities in the services of Central and State Governments were becoming scarce for the oppressed classes of the society.
They maintained that it was the moral duty of the entrepreneurs to implement reservation policy in their firms as a lot of students belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Tribe and backward classes had better qualification. Otherwise, communities which have been exploited for centuries would give birth to discontent and friction within the system, they warned.
To a question, they said the Congress was in favour of bringing in a legislation to ensure reservation in the private sector and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had already taken the initiative.
