Centre urged to bring out commemorative postal stamp on Rajkumar

Bangalore, Apr 21(UNI) Union minister of state for planning M V Rajasekharan has urged the union government to release a commemorative postal stamp on Mr Rajkumar, the receipient of Dada Saheb Phalke award, who passed away recently.

Mr M V Rajasekaran, in a letter written to Union Communication minister Dayanidhi Maran requested to issue a commemmorative postal stamp in honour and memory of Rajkumar, who was also an awardee of Padma Bhushan in recognition of his contributions to the Kannada film industry.

In his letter Mr Rajasekaran also brought to the notice of the union communication minister has said that such gestures were shown in the past to Late M G Ramachandran, Late N T Rama Rao and Late Shri Sivaji Ganesan. He has also urged the Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy chief minsiter B S Yediyurappa to take steps to pursue the matter on the issue.
