Centre approves 25 crores to setup new police battalion in Mizoram
Aizawl, Apr 21 (UNI) The Centre has approved Rs 25 crore to raise the 3rd Indian Reserve (IR) Police Battalion in Mizoram.
Talking to mediapersons, today minister for department of personnel and administrative reforms Tawnluia said the Centre had already agreed and approved to sanction Rs 25 crores to enable the state to raise the 3rd IR battalion.
He said the battalion would be raised as soon the needed fund is received from the Centre.
A cabinet memorandum had already been prepared in this regard, the minister said and hoped that employment opportunity for recruiting about one thousand youth would be generated by raising the new police force.
While the minister maintained silence about the place where the IR battalion is proposed to be located, as there have been pressures from various NGOs as well as from political forums that the 3rd IR battalion should be established in Lawngtai district of south Mizoram.
Mr Tawnluia also said the government would be filling the vacant post of twenty Mizoram Civil Service (MCS) and ten Mizoram Police Service (MPC) this year.
According to the minister, the state finance department has been monitoring the process for securing funds for filling up the posts.
''As soon as this is completed, the Mizoram Public Service Commission would float advertisements for recruitments of candidates to the vacant posts'', he said.
