Bride refuses marriage with aged groom

Muzaffarnagar, UP, Apr 21 (UNI) A marriage party had to return empty handed here after the bride refused to marry the aged groom.

The wedding was to be solemnised at Krishnapuri last night. The groom's side was accorded ceremonial welcome on arrival from Lilaun village.

During 'jaimala' (exchange of garlands), bride Sonia saw the face of the groom, Manoj Sharma, and refused to marry saying she would not wed someone fit to be her father.

Sonia also threatened to commit suicide if forced to exchange marriage vows with Manoj.

Police had to be called when the issue snowballed into a dipute.

Later, the policemen settled the matter and the groom returned without Sonia.
