Warrant against witness police officer in Ajit Sarkar murder case

Patna, Apr 20 (UNI) A local court today issued bailable warrant against police inspector Arvind Kumar Jha, a witness to the murder case of CPI(M) MLA Ajit Sarkar.

Additional District and Session judge Jayant Kumar Sen issued the order following prayer from the CBI of Aurangabad district.

Inspector Jha was posted as officer-in-charge of Khajanchi Hat police station in Purnea district at the time of incident and investigated the case. Subsequently, the investigation was taken up by the CBI.

The police officer is currently posted at Madanpur police station in Aurangabad district.

Ajit Sarkar was shot dead in Purnea district in 1998.

Several people including RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav and former legislator Rajan Tiwari are accused in the murder case.

Mr Yadav is currently lodged in Tihar jail of New Delhi in connection with the case.
