Regional commissioner in CBI net
Jabalpur, Apr 20 (UNI) A CBI team has arrested the Regional Commissioner, Labour, redhanded while paying a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to a witness here for not deposing in a case.
''In July 2005, Commissioner K K Dahuja was nabbed accepting Rs 4,000 from contractor Santosh Ghosh working in the South-Eastern Coalfields Ltd, Bilaspur, in a matter relating to alleged non-payment of minimum wages. Mr N P Singh, posted in the West-Central Railway, Jabalpur, was eye-witness,'' Superintendent of Police (CBI) Saurabh Singh told UNI today.
Recently, Mr Dahuja called Mr N P Singh to his office and reached a deal that Rs 1 lakh would be paid if Mr Singh failed to depose. It was decided that the amount would exchange hands at the Coffee House this afternoon. Mr Singh alerted the CBI and the accused was apprehended at about 1500 hrs. A cellphone and diary were seized.
Mr Dahuja underwent sustained interrogation at the CBI office in Civil Lines area and was presented before Special Judge K K Tripathi in the evening.
