Rail traffic on Delhi-Howrah route affected following accident
Kanpur, Apr 20 (UNI) Traffic on the Delhi-Howrah route via Kanpur remained paralysed following the impairment in the signal system due to the break up of the signal point by a goods train near the Juhi Yard here.
Railway sources said here today that a goods train from Kanpur to Lucknow went ahead after breaking the signal point in the Juhi Yard last night, leading to the collapse of the signal system on the busy route.
Getting the information of the incident, top railway officials reached the spot and averted a major disaster by stopping the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express which had just left the Kanpur central station.
The impairment of the signal system affected the running of important trains on the route including Avadh Express, Marudhar Express, Shiv Ganga Express and Shatabdhi Express.
The malfunctioning, has now been repaired, sources added.
