Jabalpur, Apr 20 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today heard the Narmada Bachao Andolan's arguments in a public interest plea filed by the NGO seeking proper resettlement of residents of 136 villages coming under the submergence area of the Indira Sagar dam under construction in Khandwa district.

Justices Deepak Mishra and Shantanu Sharad Kemkar fixed April 25 as the next date of hearing.

Petititioners Alok Agrawal and Chittaroopa Palit submitted that about 90 villages of Khandwa, Dewas and Harsud would be submerged if the reservoir level was maintained as 245 m while backwaters would inundate 136 villages.

They alleged that neither the state government nor Narmada Hydro Power Corporation arranged for oustees' resettlement.
