Cong leaders told not to go to Rae Bareli
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) Congress leaders, eager to go to Rae Bareli to campaign for Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the Lok Sabha by-election's have been told not to visit the place, with campaigning left entirely to the local leaders and workers.
Looking to the inevitable victory of Ms Gandhi, the party has decided to keep the electioneering a low-key affair, keeping prominent leaders from outside the state at bay.
The entire election campaign has been put in charge of Ms Gandhi's son and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
AICC General Secretary incharge of Uttar Pradesh Ashok Gehlot told UNI here ever since Ms Gandhi filed her nomination form for Rae Bareli Lok Sabha by-election's, many party leaders had expressed the desire to go to Rae Bareli for campaigning, but they had been told clearly not to proceed to the place unless permited.
Ms Gandhi was also not in favour of anybody outside the state campaigning for her, he added.
Mr Gehlot said, earlier also the work of campaigning for the party president had been left in the hands of local workers. It would be so this time again.
