Brandix to set up apparel city at Vizag

Mumbai, Apr 20 (UNI) Brandix Lanka Ltd has decided to set up an apparel city at Vizag in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of 300 million U S dollars.

Announcing this at the 4th International Textile and Apparel Congress-2006 (ITAC) here today, company CEO Ashroff Omar said construction of apparel city spread over a 1000 acre area will start in June and the first plant become operational by January 2007. The project will have a total capacity of 15,000 meters per day, he added.

The apparel city will have a weft knitted plant along with other spinning processing and dyeing plants, he said, adding major focus will be on intimate apparel, though the company also manufactures active wear and casual wear.

Mr Omar said so far the Indian Government has been very supportive of the venture.

He said the integrated plant being set up by the company has also been ideated to source as well as to supply to customers across the country.
