Varanasi, Apr 20 (UNI) After eliminating underworld sharp shooter Firdaus in a joint operation with Mumbai police in the tinsel town yesterday, the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police is now scouting for elusive mafia don Munna Bajrangi, another accused in the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.
STF sources here today said that following yesterday's killing of Firdaus in an encounter in the Malad area of Mumbai, efforts have begun to trace and nab Munna Bajrangi. Firdaus was considered to be the right hand man of Munna, sources added.
Intelligence inputs suggest that the elusive mafia don wanted in connection with many crimes, including BJP MLA's murder, was hiding in Bihar, Nepal or Maharashtra.
The STF was working round the clock to draw a plan for nabbing the mobster, sources added.
Munna and Firdaus along with ruling Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari, his controversial independent MLA brother Mukhtar Ansari and their relative Ejaz Ansari were prime accused in the killing of BJP MLA that took place in the Bhanwarkole area of Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh on November 29 last year.
The Ansari siblings alongwith their relative were presently lodged in the Ghazipur district jail in connection with the high profile killing.
