BEML bags orders worth over Rs 800 cr
Bangalore, Apr 20 (UNI) Public sector Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) today announced that it had received mega orders worth over Rs 800 crore from the the Defence Ministry for supply of various ground-support high-mobility vehicles.
A BEML release here today said orders had been placed for supply of Heavy Recovery Vehicles, Special Purpose Vehicles for Pinaka'Radar Project and 50-tonnes trailers and engineering Mine Ploughs for breaching minefields.
BEML had been highly successful in assimilating and developing indigenous BEML-Tatra technology adapted to various tactical requirements of armed forces.
New products developed and taken up by the BEML for the Indian defence services included Mines Scattered Laying Vehicle, Medium and Light Armoured Recovery Vehicle, Mobile Pontoon Bridge, Milrail Wagons, Field Artileery Tractors and Ammunition Loader Vehicles.
These strategic products would provide BEML a technological edge in keeping pace with the growing business in the defence industry.
A majority of supplies would be made in the financial year 2006-07 and the rest would be carried forward to 2007-08. The company had got a total carry-forward order book position, including defence equipment, to the tune of Rs 2,550 crore.
