13 killed in bus accident in Uttaranchal
Dehra Dun, Apr 20 (UNI) As many as 13 people were killed and 30 injured, when a bus they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge in Nainital early this morning.
According to police sources, the incident occurred when a Uttaranchal Roadways bus, carrying 45 passengers on its way to Nainital from New Delhi, fell into a deep gorge when the driver reportedly fell asleep and lost control.
Twelve died on the spot and one succumbed to injuries in the Haldwani Hospital. Thirty passengers were injured, three of them critically. The injured have been admitted in Haldwani Hospital.
The Uttaranchal Government has announced a compensation of Rs one lakh for the families of the deceased.
