Wipro's PES group crosses half a billion $ revenue

Bangalore, Apr 19 (UNI) The Product Engineering Solutions (PES) group of software major Wipro has emerged the world's largest independent R and D services provider, with its revenue for 2005-06 crossing half a billion dollars.

Including acquisitions, the group had seen a nine per cent sequential growth in sales quarter on quarter basis and 34 per cent year on year growth, the company said today while announcing its annual results.

Employing over 13,500 engineers, the group provided services in various domains such as telecom, computing systems, storage, semiconductor, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, industrial automation, avionics, software products and medical devices.

The group had acquired NewLogic, an Austria-based semiconductor IP company, a world leader in semiconductor IP cores for WLAN, Bluetooth and IEEE 1394. There were as many as 30 offshore development centres operational for PES specific clients and over 550 projects were handled at any given point of time in the year. It was also successful in registering 58 invention disclosures with clients.

During the year, it had acquired 66 new accounts with ten of them in Financial Times Global 500 companies.
