UP gangster shot dead in Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 19 (UNI) A member of the 'Munna Bajrangee' gang of Uttar Pradesh was shot dead in a joint operation by the Mumbai Crime Branch and Special Task Force (STF) of the UP police at D-Mart Mall at Goregaon in North West Mumbai this afternoon.

Phiroze Shah, wanted by the Uttar Pradesh police, had 25 murder cases against him.

The Special Task Force (STF) of the UP Police received information of the ganster's presence in Mumbai.

Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Sharma of the Crime Branch (Unit-II) said that they had received a tip-off that Shah would be visitng the D-Mart Mall. Accordingly a trap was laid jointly by the STF and Crime Branch.

When confronted, Shah fired at the joint police team, but was killed in retialliatory fire.
