Uma alleges model code violation in Budhni

Bhopal, Apr 19 (UNI) Expelled Bharatiya Janata Party leader Uma Bharti today alleged that the model code of conduct was being violated in the run-up to polling for the April 24 Budhni assembly byelection where the BJP candidate is none other than Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

''The Gondwana Ganatantra Party, which enjoys my support, has filed complaints to the Election Commission in writing and supported with proof. GGP nominee and the party's state supremo Gulzar Singh Markam's position is rather strong,'' the former chief minister told the press here.

Accusing the Congress of being ''hand-in-glove'' with the BJP, the firebrand sadhvi added that was the reason why the Congress was not forcefully complaining to the EC.

''The code was violated at a BJP meeting in Budhni yesterday. A compact disc has been enclosed with a complaint lodged today,'' said Ms Bharti's die-hard loyalist and former union minister Prahlad Patel.
