Three policemen dismissed over links with criminal

Lucknow, Apr 19 (UNI) Three police personnel have been dismissed from service for having links with a notorious criminal in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Agra) Rajiv Krishna told UNI over phone here today that notorious criminal Chandrasen was brought to a Bareilly court from Agra jail in 2004 under the custody of four police personnel. The criminal had later abducted one Imran in Bareilly with their assistance.

A case was registered in connection with the abduction in the Faridpur police station of Bareilly and a departmental probe was also instituted. Following the probe, the four police personnel were found guilty of abetting the criminal in committing the crime, Mr Krishna said.

He said three of the four police personnel -- head constable Gulab Singh and constables Rakesh Pal and Shivram -- presently posted in Agra have been dismissed from service with immediate effect, while a request for necessary action against Narottam posted in Etah district has been sent to police higher ups in that district.
