Six schools vie for honour in Parle Champions trophy

Chennai, Apr 19 (UNI) Six champion schools, who have won the zonal event, would vie for honours in the sixth Parle Champions Trophy All India inter-city limited overs cricket tournament to be held here from April tomorrow.

Talking to newspersons here P N Sankaran of Procam International, Promoter of the tournament, said the teams that would be seen in action to determine the ''Parle Champion School'' include St Patricks School (Chennai), Salwan Boys School (Delhi), DAV Higher Secondary School (Punjab), Wesley Junior College (Hyderabad), Presidency School (Bangalore) and Rizvi Springfield (Mumbai).

The teams would be divided into two groups and the top two from each group, would qualify for the knockout semifinals.

The final would be held at SRMC grounds on April 25.

Mr Sankaran said the winner would be richer by Rs 22,500, the runner-up would get Rs 15,000. The finalists would also be given a trophy each.

Apart from this, every match would carry awards for Best bowler, Best Batsman, Bast Partnership, Best Catch, Best fielder and Man of the Match.

Awards for best Bowler of the series, Batsman of the series, partnership of the series and Man of the series, would also be presented.

The six team would be named under popular Parle product names, he added.
