Rs 140.13 lakh relief distributed to quake victims in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 19: Jammu and Kashmir government has distributed Rs 140.13 lakh relief among the victims of October 8 killer quake in Uri tehsil in North Kashmir, an official spokesman said.

He said the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Uri, Bashir Ahmad distributed relief cheques worth to Rs 65.89 lakh among 479 earthquake victims of the tehsil, where more than 350 people died and almost all the houses and other structures were reduced to rubble.

He said cheques to the tune of Rs 74.24 lakh were also distributed among the victims on the recommendations of Lok Adalat held recently in the tehsil.
