Kohima, Apr 19 (UNI) Former Election Observer K J Rao today said the number of seats in Nagaland assembly and Parliament should be increased by amending the provisions of the Constitution.

Speaking in an orientation programme on 'Comparative Electoral System' for the state Legislators, Mr Rao said all the NE states are in the hilly terrain. Therefore the number of representation from the region in the Legislative assembly, Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha should be increased.

He said, ''Two Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from Nagaland is not sufficient to serve the people of the hilly states and at least five members in each house are needed.'' He emphasised the need of a stable government and a strong opposition in the state.
