Prakash, Pavel bite dust in challenger

Chikmagalur, Apr 19 (UNI) Indian hope Prakash Amritraj and fifth seed Pavel Snobel (Czech republic) fell by the wayside even as second seed Danai Udomchoke of Thailand and third seed Yen-Hsun Lu of Tapei stormed into the quarterfinals of the 25,000 dollar ATP Challenger Chapionship here today.

Jan Masik (Czech Republic) who defeated Prakash in a 75 minute encounteer at 7-5, 6-1 later partnered Victor Bruthans of Solovokia to oust serbia Victor Troicki of and Sabastian Reschick of Germany 6-3, 6-2. Top seeded doubles pair of Pavel Snobel and Lukasz Kubot of Poland also entered quarterfinals defeating Indians Vishal Uppal and Mustafa Ghouse 6-4, 6-4.

Unseeded American Phillip King stopped the further progress of Pavel to win at 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the match that lasted for 98 minutes.

Indians Karan Rastogi and Ashutosh Singh waged a tough battle before going down to Jesse Huta Galung of Netherland and Laurent Recouderc of France 4-6, 6-2 4-6.

Sixth seed Prakash failed to understand the rythm of Masik despite having suffered defeat in the Features Tournament in Abu Dhabi last month. Prakash did not focus much and committed as many as five double faults paving way to Masik to win the match and enter last eight stage.
