Powerloom unit gutted

Kolhapur, Apr 19 (UNI) Huge stocks of bagasse, bolier machinery adn other equipments were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a powerloom sizing unit at Ichalkaranji in the district today.

Police and fire-brigade sources said that the fire broke out in the sizing section of Gajlaxmi sizing factory located at Khanjire Industrial Estate, close to the factory's boiler unit destroying bagasse and other materials.

The fire raged for over two and half hours, fire brigade officials said.

Preliminary investigations said that property worth about six to seven lakh was damaged in the fire, sources said.

No one was injured in the mishap, sources added.
