Kochi, Apr 19 (UNI) The soft-spoken Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was today staunchly defensive of his diplomatic style of responding to often vocal Left criticism.

''I will not change my style. I have maintained this style for the past two years,'' he said when asked by reporters here about his discreet responses to the Left parties' censure of the UPA government's policies and programmes.

When it was pointed out that the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, led by his Congress party, usually minced no words in its observations on the Left Front, he tactfully said the ''UDF had its own responsibilities'' and ''we (the UPA) have our own''.

He said he would ''not use harsh words'', but the issue in Kerala was ''who would provide a better governance'' and the UDF was poised to do so.
